• Of the Landon series, no formal lithostratigraphic determination. Landon age (early Oligocene to earliest Miocene). The Landon series unconformably overlies Mesozoic greywacke and argillite, and is overlain, unconformably by greywacke conglomerates of the Taranaki series. At Wainone Stream, limestone is not present, and greensand overlies fossiliferous mudstone and coal measures, which rest on greywacke. Greensands and mudstones close to Taurewa Fault dip about 50° to the south-east.
